Photo of Dr. Jennifer DovichiJennifer Dovichi, M.D. Jennifer Dovichi, M.D., was born in Sacramento and raised in Northern California. She attended UCLA, graduating from the Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology. Following this, she enrolled at USC Medical School, earning her MD degree in 1997. Her early experiences caring for children and families with diverse backgrounds and challenging diagnoses during her rotations at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles led to love of pediatric medicine.

Next, Jennifer returned to Northern California, choosing Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford for her pediatric residency from 1997-2000. In 2001, she was chosen as Chief Resident, completing an additional year of teaching and clinical work at LPCH. During these busy years, she and her husband Eric chose to start a family; Alex and Pia were born at the Stanford hospital and learned to sleep through the pager at a young age.

Jennifer joined Summit Pediatrics in 2002 and has enjoyed caring for children and families in the Lamorinda area since then. She feels fortunate to have established lasting continuity with her families, allowing her to be a part of the child’s physical and emotional health over time.

Jennifer loves the daily variety of general pediatrics: visiting new parents in the hospital with newborns, adolescent well checks and conferences with families, and the predictable bumps, rashes and fevers of childhood. In addition, special areas of interest are developmental pediatrics, school advocacy and adolescent health maintenance.

Photo of Dr. Pelen WuPelen Wu, M.D. An East Bay native, Dr. Wu went to Bentley School before heading to Piedmont High School.  She then braved the snow just outside Chicago, IL, to attend Northwestern University, where she earned a B.A. in Economics in 1996 and a M.D. in 2000.  Dr. Wu returned to California to complete her pediatric residency at Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.

She currently lives in Lafayette with her husband Brian and their two boys, Kai and Kaleo.  On the weekends, you will see her running the Rim Trail at the Lafayette Reservoir, harvesting produce at the local farmer’s market and swinging a tennis racket on the court.  When it’s time to relax, she enjoys French press coffee and reading the New York Times.

Photo of Dr. James EvansJames Evans, M.D. is an East Bay native, born at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, and graduating from Piedmont High. He then graduated from Reed College in Portland, , finished medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and completed his pediatric residency at Loyola University School of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Evans is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Prior to joining Summit Pediatrics five years ago, Jim has volunteered in medical clinics in Honduras and Costa Rica, worked at clinics for the underserved in San Francisco, supervised UCSF residents at SF General Hospital as an Associate Professor of Medicine, and worked in private practice in Contra Costa County.

Jim and his wife, Karen, have a toddler daughter and an infant son. At least one of them is probably awake right now. He enjoys chasing his daughter around the garden, making ice cream, running the trails of the Oakland Hills, and going to A’s games.

Dr Jim places a strong emphasis on establishing lasting and trusting relationships with patients’ families, using a flexible approach to child raising, and helping parents to be confident in their own sound judgement.
